About Truckee Snowflakes Truckee Snowflakes began 30 years ago by life-long glass artist, Janet Martin, who sought a way to repurpose “glass scraps” from stained glass windows while fusing her love of the alpine life and handmade glass art. Inspired by the way the snow sparkled like diamonds from any mountain and the shimmer of Lake Tahoe from summits surrounding the lake, Janet created a unique technique which has since transformed into the largely recognized “Truckee Snowflake”. Each piece of art is a unique fusion of Bullseye Glass (made in the USA) and the love and passion which has inspired Janet’s art from the beginning.
Since it’s conception, Truckee Snowflakes has expanded into world-renown collective art statements which include the classic Truckee Snowflake Ornament, Tahoe Critter Ornaments, and Tahoe inspired glasswork. Truckee Snowflakes continues to represent and inspire the snow bums around the world, brought together by a love of snow, a joy of the alpine life and a passion for the mountains.
About the Artists Truckee Snowflakes has grown into a multi-generation woman-owned business and continues to be run by original artist, Janet Martin and her daughter, Meg Martin.
